April 16, 2019 – Fire Up Those Speeches and Presentations
(2 CE/HR or ELE #9628645)

In an interactive session, participants will learn the basics of engaging your audience and getting to the point. We will review tips on how to breath (when you are scared to death), find your volume, pitch and pace, and speak with vocal variety. Then you get to practice!!!

Betsy Barbieux, CAM, CFCAM with Florida CAM Schools, LLC

May 21, 2019 – A panel of local judges will discuss the legal system and the types of cases that come before them, including condominium and homeowner’s association disputes.  County Judge A. Christian Miller, Circuit Judge Michael S. Orfinger, and Circuit Judge Sandra C. Upchurch share their different backgrounds and insights from their years on the bench. Our very own  Katherine Hurst Miller will moderate the discussion and make sure to save time for audience Q & A.  You don’t want to miss this program if your association ever considers taking cases to court!

June 18, 2019 – We are honored to have State Representative Tom Leek coming to speak to BAM regrading the recent Legislative Session. Please make sure to attend BAM that evening to learn about what happened during Session and bring any questions about association issues, other laws, and constituent issues that are important to you and your association.

Since 2016, Rep. Leek has represented Volusia County in the Florida House of Representatives, and has served as the chair, vice-chair or member of several important house committees. He has received numerous awards for his legislative service and maintained a close relationship with citizens and businesses in his district. He is the author or sponsor of numerous bills, and was widely recognized for the passage of Ponce’s Law, strengthening protections for abused animals. You do not want to miss this vital information! Thank you to Katherine Miller for her assistance in bringing Rep. Leek to BAM!

July 16, 2019 – In light of the recent events we have all seen on TV, this program could not have come at a better time. We have Sergeant Bernard Daven of the Daytona Beach Police Dept. coming to speak to our group about workplace violence. Learn how to hopefully prevent it, but more importantly, what to look for and how to respond.

Sgt. Daven is an 18 year veteran of the force and is a member of the SWAT Team and his information will be invaluable. Do not miss this program! The board would like to Thank Laura Qualantone from Sentry Management for suggesting this topic.

October 15, 2019Buck James with Halifax Urban Ministries

This October we are pleased to have back Buck James the Director of Halifax Urban Ministries. He will be explaining what donations they will need this year to help out those less fortunate in our community, and collecting all donations in December. Last year BAM was able to fill up a truck! This year, let’s make it two and show the community that BAM cares! I’m sure your communities and businesses would love to help, so make sure to mention how they can help too!

HUM’s mission is to prevent homelessness among low-income families by providing emergency assistance & to intervene on behalf of homeless people.
Halifax Urban Ministries is a faith based nonprofit that has served our community since 1981. Almost all of our funding is through financial donations by the local community. 94% of each dollar directly provides services to our guests. We offer homeless prevention & assistance services throughout Volusia County from HUM service centers and distributed services at 30 partner & school locations. Flagler residents may access services at our Ormond Beach locations.
